CARBÓ STRATEGIC CONSULTING
DELIVERS THE TRUST AND EXPERTISE
TO ADVANCE PROGRESSIVE POLICY CHANGE
Steven Carbó brings over 25 years experience at the national, state and local levels as an advocate and policy expert in voting rights and election administration, civic engagement, criminal justice and other fundamental democracy issues.
Limited staffing and heavy workloads often hinder private foundations and nonprofit organizations that promote progressive public policies — particularly when confronted with emergent crises or presented with new opportunities. They need experienced and trusted professionals to accurately size up challenges and opportunities, advise them on resource needs and funding support and provide expert technical support.
THE CSC SOLUTION
We conduct landscape analyses of state and local policy change opportunities, identify resource needs and make funding recommendations. We build and manage multistakeholder coalitions and collaborations between state and national organizations. We conduct policy research and draft policy briefs, legislative proposals and talking points. We provide technical assistance and support.
THE CSC PHILOSOPHY

Our approach is highly collaborative, congenial and respectful – traits that colleagues regularly commend in their assessment of our work. We promote local leadership and facilitate racial, ethnic and gender inclusion.

Steven Carbó is an experienced civil rights attorney and policy experts who works with private foundations, nonprofit organizations, policy experts, policymakers and other public officials to advance progressive policy change and social justice. His efforts in support of historically marginalized communities led to the enactment of Same Day Registration in six states and the District of Columbia, restoration of the vote to tens of thousands of formerly incarcerated individuals, renewed voter registration services at municipal agencies in New York City, and a vast expansion of bilingual voting requirements.
Carbó launched and directed the Democracy Program at Demos, a prominent national policy and advocacy organization, and at the Center for Popular Democracy.
